Matthew L. Bower, CTFA®, CWM®

Matthew Bower is C&N's Executive Vice President, Chief Wealth Management Officer. With Matthew’s 25 years of industry experience, he brings a depth of knowledge and leadership experience to C&N. Most recently, he led PNC’s Wealth Management Group in Atlanta, GA, as Managing Director, delivering industry-leading results in client and employee satisfaction and, for 13 consecutive years, his office and numerous regional responsibilities ranked in the top 5 in production. 

While Bower has specialized in handling high net worth and financially complex situations, he has considerable experience in all aspects of wealth management, including the administration of investment account management, financial management and fiduciary administration. During his time at PNC, he also served as Senior Vice President & Market Executive for Southwest Florida and, prior to that, he was the head of Private Banking Sales, Administration and Marketing for U.S. Trust Company in Sarasota, Florida. Bower earned his Master of Jurisprudence from Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, TX, and completed the Stanford Graduate School of Business’s Executive Leadership Program. He has several FINRA licensures and has earned designations as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), Certified Securities Operations Professional (CSOP) and a Chartered Wealth Manager® (CWM).

Matt and his wife, Lori, enjoy traveling, cooking and spending time with their two college age daughters, Madeline and Ella.

Philip is the Chief Investment Strategist and oversees the investment unit of the Trust and Financial Management Group. His responsibilities include the oversight of investment strategies, investment analysis and manager selections. Philip joined C&N in 2000. He was previously responsible for the delivery of C&N’s financial services, including the sales and service of Trust, Brokerage and Insurance services. He also retains administration duties for client accounts.

Prior to joining C&N, Philip’s experience at C&N, Prough Insurance Agency and Parente Randolph provided him with valuable skills and insight to lead his team to success at C&N. Philip’s driving philosophy is that “providing a deep, knowledgeable team gives our clients assurance that we have a sustainable support network to meet their changing financial needs. But it’s our personal service that demonstrates our clients will always be our primary focus.”

Philip is an honors graduate from Lycoming College, receiving his Bachelor's of Arts degree in Accounting. He received his Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University in 2012 and has held the designation of Certified Financial Planner® practitioner since 2003. He also holds various securities and insurance licenses.

Tara Rittler

A six-year veteran of the financial industry, Tara has been with C&N since 2019 in her position as a Financial Advisor.  

Tara is a graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has begun coursework toward her Masters at Temple University. She has a husband, Russ, and two daughters, Courtney and Natalie. Tara is active with the Girl Scouts of America, coaches lacrosse and loves spending time outdoors.

Lynne Smith, CPA

A Certified Public Accountant working on tax return preparation, tax planning and departmental compliance, Lynne has been in the financial industry for 35 years. For the past seven of those, she’s spent her as part of the C&N family, using her knowledge and expertise to our clients’ advantage. Lynne received her B.S. from Elmira College and is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She lives in Wellsboro, PA with her husband, Douglas, with whom she has two sons.
