C&N Nationally Recognized for Protecting Older Americans

C&N's Dalelyn Colquhoun joined staff & patrons at the Bucks County Free Library for a Safe Banking for Seniors presentation. Alongside teammate Lauri Dale, she shared information on current AI-driven scams targeting seniors and practical ways to safeguard against them.

WELLSBORO, PA – February is National Senior Independence Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the importance of helping older adults live with dignity, safety, and financial confidence. C&N places high priority on protecting its customers and communities  and their efforts were recognized nationally by the American Bankers Association Foundation.

C&N was named a national finalist and received an Honorable Mention in the Protecting Older Americans category of the 2025 ABA Foundation Community Commitment Awards. The recognition places C&N among a select group of banks across the country acknowledged for exceptional commitment to community impact and corporate social responsibility. The national recognition highlights C&N’s MoneyArmor program, a proactive and comprehensive initiative that brings fraud prevention, cybersecurity tools, digital bankin safeguards, and community education under one comprehensive system designed to support seniors and caregivers.

In a letter announcing the recognition, Lindsay Torrico, Executive Director of the ABA Foundation, wrote, “The quality and level of commitment to corporate social responsibility demonstrated in your entry impressed all of us involved in its review.” She further noted that with so many excellent submissions, it was “very difficult for our panel of judges to decide on one winner,” and confirmed that C&N’s submission was among the finalists nationally.

What Protecting Older Americans Looks Like at C&N

At C&N, protecting seniors is not a single initiative. It is a coordinated, year-round effort through our MoneyArmor program that blends education, technology, and personal connection. Their award submission highlighted the many ways C&N supports older adults and their families:

  • Community education: Teammates deliver presentations at libraries, community centers, and senior organizations on topics such as AI-driven scams, phishing attempts, and safe digital banking practices.

  • Fraud prevention training: All frontline employees are trained to recognize red flags of elder financial exploitation and escalate concerns to their fraud team when needed.

  • Caregiver support: Through their partnership with Carefull, C&N customers can enroll in a financial monitoring platform that allows trusted contacts to receive alerts about suspicious activity while preserving independence.

  • Ongoing awareness: Through MoneyArmor Mondays, fraud alerts, and in-branch conversations, the bank shares timely, plain-language guidance about emerging threats.

Tools That Support Independence

Fraud prevention at C&N is embedded directly into everyday banking.

  • Secure online and mobile banking allow customers to monitor transactions in real time.

  • SavvyMoney credit monitoring helps customers stay alert to identity threats.

  • MoneyManager provides a comprehensive view of accounts to help identify unusual activity.

  • Digital alerts notify customers immediately of account changes.

  • Carefull adds an additional layer of oversight for older adults and caregivers navigating financial caregiving responsibilities.

Together, these tools provide protection while respecting autonomy, helping seniors remain confident in managing their finances.

“This recognition reflects the intentional work happening across our organization,” said Brad Scovill, President and CEO of C&N. “Fraud prevention is about more than preventing losses. It is about protecting independence, preserving dignity, and giving families peace of mind. Being named a national finalist affirms the importance of this work and the impact it continues to have across our footprint.”

MoneyArmor is supported by a dedicated internal cybersecurity education team that includes frontline teammates and senior leadership. The team meets monthly to review emerging fraud trends, coordinate outreach efforts, and ensure the program evolves alongside new threats.

This National Senior Independence Month, C&N remains committed to empowering older adults to bank safely, confidently, and independently in an increasingly digital world. Learn more about C&N and its MoneyArmor services, visit cnbankpa.com/MoneyArmor, call 877.838.2517 or email [email protected].
