Applicants Sought for the 2021 Galeton Foundation Scholarships

GALETON – C&N is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2021 fall semester on behalf of The Galeton Foundation, formally known as the William & L.R. Gale Community Foundation.

Applicants must be a current high school senior attending Galeton Area High School with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and accepted to an accredited college, university or trade school. The student and parent(s)/guardian(s) must have been residents of the Galeton Area School District for at least one full school calendar year prior to applying and must remain residents of the Galeton Area School District for the duration of the scholarship.

Applications are due by April 15, 2021. Students interested in more information may contact C&N Wealth Management at 800.487.8784, visit cnbankpa.com/GaletonFoundation or contact the Galeton High School Guidance office.

In 1988, Lucille Gale Knapp established the William & L.R. Gale Community Foundation to honor the memory of her father L. R. Gale and grandfather William Gale. The Gale family came to the Pine Creek Valley in 1880 and built the largest sole leather tannery in the U.S. at the junction of Pine Creek and West Branch. The tannery employed over 200 people and was the life blood of the community for over 50 years.

The Foundation has been approved to award scholarships to Galeton Area High School Seniors meeting the above criteria. In past years, the foundation has supported Galeton area charitable organizations with many of their community projects and plans to continue to do so in addition to funding the scholarship program. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes contributions to grow the fund to help assist charitable organizations in the Galeton area and provide scholarships for Galeton high school seniors.

Beginning this year, in addition to the Galeton Foundation Scholarship, a local resident has established an annual, vocational scholarship to be administered under the umbrella of the Galeton Foundation in memory of Herman and Berta Robbins. Applications and further information about the Herman and Berta Robbins Vocational Scholarship can be obtained from the Galeton Area High School Guidance office.

C&N Wealth Management, Trustee of the Galeton Foundation, administrates the account. Applications for scholarships and grants are available on C&N’s website cnbankpa.com/GaletonFoundation.
